Almond milk

DSC_0069Some people say that nut milk can replace regular milk. Some people do not like nut milk at all. I like it a lot, but I do not think it can be used everywhere you use normal milk. Because it has no fat at all and flavour is nutty, but nothing like milk. I like to use it for shakes, smoothies and granola because of its nutrition and taste.

Everyone knows how to make almond milk, but I would like to share my process as well.

For 4 glasses of almond milk:

1 cup of raw almonds
4 cups of water
1 banana

Soak almonds in water over night. Drain the water and pour the nuts into your processor or blender. Add four glasses of water. Make sure it is water you can drink, because you will use the milk raw. Blend well until water turns completely white. Using drainer and cheesecloth drain your milk. At this stage add all extra ingredients you like – I add banana to add some extra texture and fat, you also can add two dates, some vanilla extract or whatever you like. Blend the milk with new ingredients and you’re done.

Your milk can stay in your fridge for 3-4 days, shake before using. Happy Thursday!
